WHY DO WE
NEED A HOLE TO HOLE COURSE LAYOUT ?
Golf Club web sites have two
functions:
- To
inform existing members of functions, changes,
news, tournaments, photographs
etc.
- To
inform golfers visiting the area what facilities
are on offer compared to other neighbourhood
clubs,
including the layout of the
course.
- Providing
photographs of varying quality of a fairway,
green or tee can be counter
productive.
- A
Hole by Hole aerial illustration gives that
feeling of being there.
- Add
a range marker and the golfer visualises whether
it will be a testing and interesting
course.
- Add
details and he is hungry to try the
course.
WHY DO WE
NEED TO CHANGE OUR EXISTING HOLE TO HOLE PAGES
?
- As technology
has improved so have your
options.
- Broadband is
increasing expectations of reduced download
times.
- Speed is
important when 18 different views are required.
1 page per hole can mean 18 minutes to down
load a total course.
- Photographic
images of an artist's impressions cannot be
expanded
without loss of definition, hence
the need for vector
illustrations.
- HTML (a
standard web page language) is improving but
cannot be compared to Macromedia
FlashMX.
WHY
DOES THE HOLE2HOLE PROGRAM DOWNLOAD FASTER
?
- The Hole2Hole
program has been developed using Macromedia
FlashMX2004 incorporating action script
2.
- This permits
the use of Vector illustrations instead of the
normal Raster (pixel)
illustrations.
- Vectors
illustrations do not loose their definition when
enlarged, allowing the viewer to zoom in
more.
- Vectors
compress to much a smaller size and therefore
download faster.
- The program has
been developed for speed and uploads
illustrations on the fly,
hence permitting
the viewer to play before download is
complete.
- Even using a
28K modem produces successful
results.
HOW
ARE THE COSTS INCURRED ?
2 and 3
dimensional
- The vector
illustrations are traced from your existing
layout and hole drawings
(19 hand drawn
illustrations).
- Hole shaped
buttons
(18 designed
buttons).
- Each hole then
requires individual landscape drawings
(18
hand drawn illustrations).
- Photographs
have to be sized, compressed and mounted into
downloadable files.
(18 photographs. 6 to 18
files)
- Liaise with
client or webmaster to amend existing button URL
targets.

- Perspective
views have to be created.
- Contours and
shadows are created.
- Animation is
designed and set into
positions.
I
HAVE A WEB DESIGNER WHO LOOKS AFTER EVERYTHING
?
- Discuss
Hole2Hole with them.
They may wish to insert
their own illustrations to maintain their
present theme.
- We are not page
designers but flash specialists and will work
with your designers
if they are prepared to
work within certain size
parameters.
- Our costs are
based on slotting new illustrations into an
existing tool box.
The tool box is the power
house and its design and development are subject
to copyright.
- If one wishes
to provide the vector illustrations of set sizes
we are prepared
to accommodate and will
adjust the costing accordingly.
- We will be
accommodating but are not geared to long
discussions over how and what.
We will not
compromise our copyright.
CAN
I USE EXISTING ILLUSTRATIONS ?
- If they are
photographs or scans or any form of pixel image
then they must be converted to layers of
each colour and e-mailed
separately.
- Your existing
illustrations, literature etc will be needed in
our work
(see next
question).
WHAT
WILL YOU REQUIRE TO CREATE THE PROGRAM
?
- Scanned layout
drawings or maps of the golf
course.
- Scanned site
plans or existing literature of each
hole.
- If the above
are available on an existing web page then we
can extract,
with your permission, the
necessary material.
- Scanned
photographs (quality not important) to obtain a
feel for the landscape.
- Written
descriptions of the beauty etc. or the best way
to play each hole for ladies and
gentlemen.
- High quality
photographs, jpg, bmp or gif as large as
possible for use on the hole photo
album.
- One contact
person, with an e-mail address, who is familiar
with the advertising or promotion of the
course.
- Photographs of
the club house or a beautiful aspect of the
course for the opening page.
- Photograph or
illustration of the club logo or style of club
heading.
WHAT
IS THE DELIVERY PERIOD ?
- We are a small
team.
- We need all the
above information to continuously work on your
order.
- If we are
waiting for information we move on to the next
project.
- In a perfect
world i.e. prepayments made, all information
provided, then 2/3 weeks.
- We will supply
you with our work for your approval as the work
progresses.
- Feedback will
be encouraged. The bizarre
ignored.
WHAT
CONTROL DO WE HAVE ?
- The final
program is delivered in a swf file. A
transportable macromedia file.
- The program may
be used in any web page.
- The photographs
can be changed by you or your webmaster at any
time.
- The advertising
sponsors images or flash movies can also be
changed at any time.
- Animation can
be added or changed at a later
date.
- Changes to hole
design or layout would be dealt with by
Hole2Hole.
